The Canon printer driver is currently unavailable. This implies that there is a specific driver issue stopping your printer from connecting correctly with your computer. Occasionally, this error is reported as a status on the Windows operating system’s driver programme.
This issue frequently arises when the printer driver is out of date or defective, or when Windows requires new updates. The most common causes of this issue, however, are faulty or mismatched printer drivers.
How to Resolve the Error “No Printer Driver Is Available”?
Even if you change the printer ink cartridges, you will be unable to print due to a printer driver unavailable error. Additionally, it prevents you from performing associated actions such as scanning and copying.
The notice “Printer driver is unavailable” indicates that your computer’s driver for your printer is incompatible with or out of date.problem in the printing industry and may be resolved with a few minor adjustments. Consider the following solutions.
Using a Driver Utility to Update Drivers
We strongly advise you to update all of your drivers using the DriverFix Utility, which is available for download here. This application will scan your computer for out-of-date drivers and will update them automatically.
To uninstall a printer driver, follow these steps:
The problem can be solved in one of two ways: notice ‘Printer driver is not installed or is not functioning properly’. Alternatively, you can delete the printer and any associated software before reinstalling it. Alternatively, you can explore all available drivers and pick one that is compatible with your device.
Before reconnecting the printer and any related software, we’ll unplug them. As a consequence, the pre-installed drivers will be used.
- In the resulting dialogue box, hit Windows + R and then type “control.””Make sure the View by: Large icons option is chosen in the control panel. Select the devices and printers you want to use.
- A list of all printers will be included in this section. Remove the faulty printer by right-clicking it and selecting “Remove device.”
- “Again, press Windows + R and type “devmgmt.msc.”To uninstall a printer, go to the “Print Queues” area, right-click it, and select “Uninstall device.” After removing your printer from the control panel, this may or may not be there; if it is not, there is no need to be worried.
- Now, in the dialogue box that appears, press Windows + R and type “appwiz.cpl.” This section will house all applications. From the context menu of each of your printer programmes, select “Uninstall.”
- After you’ve finished the preceding steps, unplug your printer from your computer if it’s connected through USB, or from your network if it’s wirelessly connected. Your computer, printer, and router should all be turned off. All of their power sources should be turned off.
- After around ten minutes, reconnect everything and restart all modules .Begin by using a USB connection to connect the printer to the computer. Allow time for the detecting process to complete and the required drivers to be installed.
- Return to the control panel and, from the context menu, pick “Set as default printer.” To check that the problem has been resolved, print a test page.

Install the latest drivers manually.
If the previous method is not successful, we will update the printer drivers manually. Additionally, there are situations where the printer functions normally but becomes unusable following a Windows upgrade. Upgraded Windows drivers may be inconvenient and may not work on all PCs. This was especially true in the case of HP printers. One approach for resolving this issue is to manually update the specified driver by downloading it from the manufacturer’s website and then disabling Windows update.
Visit the manufacturer’s website and save the proper drivers for your device to a convenient location before continuing.
- Press Windows + R to bring up the Run dialogue box. Enter “devmgmt.msc” in the dialogue box. This will open the device management programme on your PC.
- Right-click on the printer hardware and select “Update driver” from the “Print queues” sub-menu.
- Windows will now prompt you to choose a method for upgrading your driver. Select the second option (Browse my computer for driver software).
- When the browse button appears, choose the downloaded driver file and conduct any necessary upgrades.
Nota : In rare instances, the printer may be concealed from the device management. Simply launch the installer in this scenario, and the driver will be installed immediately.
4. At this step, make sure the printer is operating normally. If that’s the case, go to Microsoft’s official website and download the “wushowhide.diagcab” package.
5.To begin the package, click Next.
6.From the drop-down option, choose Hide updates.
7.Then, if necessary, select the printer update option and continue. Unless you specifically direct Windows Update to do so, Windows Update will no longer automatically update the printer’s drivers.
